I have no doubt that you are as much a hero as those victims of the cowardly attack on the USS Stark. I am proud to know that people like you can do this job, horrific as it is. I would be greatly comforted by the efforts of the truly remarkable troops who are entrusted with maintaining the dignity of those who gave everything. God bless you! I am proud of you!

I too remember all to well the murder of Jeff as i was friends with his sister Jill. I think all of our innocence was shattered when this happened. In a place where people did not even lock there doors, this changed that. The FBI came to our house, because my brother and friends always fished down there. That family was destroyed, as was Jill.

I think that FaceBook desperately needs some sort of negative feedback response. Next to the Like button there should be a I Don’t Give A Fuck button so people will stop updating their “status” when they have absolutely nothing to add to the conversation. FB is–more than anything–a collective way for people to waste even more time online.

My brother-in-law Christepher DeAngelis was one of the 37 sailers that died on the USS STARK.I thank you for everything that you have done to bring him back home to his family.He told his fellow shipmates that he wanted to be burried at Arlington National Cemetary if any thing happened to him which he was.Please could you tell me if any of the bodies where identifiable or were they all disconfigured i have heard so many stories by you answering this it can put some clousure to it.

I have never mocked a person’s personal beliefs but I think it is highly appropriate to mock what they believe. In fact, I think it is my duty as a rational human being to mock man-made superstitions that seek to enslave people, which is exactly what most religions have done over the course of human history. I wasn’t offered a choice as a child, at least not much of one. I was told either to believe or be damned.I chose the latter and that has made all the difference.

It’s sad to think how much time I wasted in horribly boring catechism classes as a kid. If only I could have been force-fed more biology and the science of evolution. As Richard Dawkins points out in his book The Ancestor’s Tale (a sort of rational version of Genesis), “My objection to supernatural beliefs is precisely that they miserably fail to do justice to the sublime grandeur of the real world.” Dawkins also makes hash of the Pascal's Wager business. It was the idea of eternal damnation that made a nonbeliever out of me at a very early age. I just couldn’t buy that one.
